Different Cuts for Different Face Shapes

Heart Shaped Face

Fancy a shorter style?

A variation of the pixie cut, to balance out the slimmer jaw, the layers are cut evenly on the sides and nape with short layers on the top.

A bit more length in mind?

Go for a collarbone length bob and team it with a sweeping fringe, with some uniform layers to balance out the chin.

Want to keep it long?

Keep the longer length by adding layers, cut in a heavy fringe to soften the wider forehead and offset the prominent jaw. Wear the layers as tousled curls for softness.

Round Shaped Face

Fancy a shorter style?

Try a textured pixie cut! The choppy layers on the crown area add height which lengthens your face and draws attention to those eyes!

A bit more length in mind?

A soft collarbone length bob! The length slims the face and gives structure! Try styling with loose curls to soften the jawline

Want to keep it long?

A longer length with long layers that hit just under the jawline!. Having the layers longer keeps the volume through the ends of the hair, and not on the sides where the volume is not wanted.

Long or Oval Shaped Face

Fancy a shorter style?

A short angular bob! The sharpness of the length emphasises the jawline whilst the choppy layers give lift to the shape.

A bit more length in mind?

A style that hits the shoulders and has subtle variating layers is just right for you! The layers will give movement, keeping hair from lying flat. Get your stylist to show you how to create a flicky/voluminous blow out at home!

Want to keep it long?

You’ve probably been told you can not have long hair, but cut in a sweeping side fringe and you can keep those lovely long locks! By shortening the hair around the face, you are not lengthening the face…. Therefore no reason to chop off the lot!

Square Shaped Face

Fancy a shorter style?

The most effective cut is a short layered bob! The layers and soft shaping emphasise your cheekbones rather than your jawline, making it softer.

A bit more length in mind?

You need layers to camouflage a strong jawline, so light textured layers that sit at the shoulder are best! Keeping it soft and feathery on the edges takes away sharp corners and blunt ends.

Want to keep it long?

Longer hair is already flattering! To avoid it looking too strong and blunt, have soft pieces skimming the cheekbone and a light scattering of layers to soften the face.

Different Cuts for Different Hair Types & Textures

Straight Hair

The perfect cut for straight hair is a blunt style! Cutting straight across keeps the thickness and fullness of the hair. That doesn’t mean you can’t have layers, layers can soften lines but if cut too short, it will result in the ends looking thin. If you want the edges to be softened, avoid asking for your hair to be razor cut, this tool will make your ends look like they are splitting. Your stylist will most likely want to do all the personalising once the hair is dry, this is preferred because you can see how the hair is laying.

Shorter style….

Try a textured pixie cut

Mid-length style….

Try a collarbone length bob, long layers are an option!

Longer style….

Try a blunt length, longer layers and a blunt fringe.

Wavy & Curly Hair

Wavy/curly hair has its challenges, sometimes it can look too rounded and ‘mushroom’ like! The perfect way to avoid this is to have layers throughout the interior and exterior of the hair. The idea is for the layers to create a draping effect. The stylist will take into account the amount of movement you have in your hair, so that the layers aren’t taken too short or sit on top of each other! It may be that we find your hair needs some weight or bulk to be removed.

Shorter style….

Try a one length cut that is between ear length and chin, layers will make the hair too rounded so opt for the ends to just be softened!

Mid-length style….

Try shoulder length with layers sitting between the cheekbones and collarbone!

Longer style….

Try long length with long graduated layers and shaping below the chin!

Textures

Cut ideas for fine texture hair

Fine hair can be limp and lack volume! The perfect hair cuts to try for this hair texture would be any bob or soft, textured pixie cuts! The correct products will act as your styling aid!

Cut ideas for medium texture hair

Medium texture hair is quite easy to manage! If you would like there to be less of it you can have it thinned out or texturised. If you would like to thicken it up, you can have it blunt!

Cut ideas for coarse texture hair

Coarse hair often can feel bulky and heavy! So layered cuts will work best along with thinning and softening techniques!
